Trans Atlantic’s quality process starts at the quarries where each piece of granite is hand-picked by our overseas staff, who also manage the mining, slicing, grinding, polishing, and selection process until the granite slabs are exported from their country of origin. This process avoids middlemen commissions, therefore reducing the production cost.
Granite Slabs
The granite slabs are produced from stone blocks approximately 9 feet long, 5 feet wide and 4 to 5 feet thick. These blocks are cut in processing factories owned and operated by Trans Atlantic Granite associates using gang saw machines with diamond blades 60-70” in diameter. Each block produces between 40 to 50 granite slabs.
Inspection and Sealant Application
Each granite slab is inspected for uniformity in color, quality, and texture to ensure only the highest grade of granite is imported to the United States. All granite is sealed by Trans Atlantic before shipment to the United States and resealed after installation to protect the granite’s flawless surface and maintain its durability. Our high-quality granites do not need to be sealed more than once every 3 to 5 years and it takes about 10 minutes or less to reseal an average size kitchen.
Hand-Carved Edging
All Trans Atlantic granite is hand-carved by highly trained professionals and prepared for a custom fit. We specialize in 1 ½” Double Bullnose edging (Full Bull Nose) – the most popular edging style for its smooth appearance, safety, and durability. All edges are laminated using 2” wide strips of granite and are then carved and polished to give a thicker appearance.
Granite Installation

| Recommendation: Granite no thicker than ¾” should be placed on top of countertops because of its heaviness (12lbs/sqft). |

During the installation process, our sub-contractors work systematically to ensure the granite fits snugly in place. Our sub-contractors are exclusive to Trans Atlantic and have at least 10 years of experience installing granite countertops and other granite projects. |
